This study is in two parts. The first covers chapter 6 in the book with the second covering chapter 7.
Conversion: Faith and Repentance
1. Go back through your journal, notes and other thoughts that you have had since the study began. How is repentance related to conversion?
2. What are the two elements that make up conversion that Steve makes reference to? How do these elements help us define what true conversion looks like and what it may or may not look like?
3. Read Mark 10:17-27. What does this story show us about conversion?
4. Read Ephesians 2:1-10. How does faith and repentance work in the life of a believer on an ongoing basis?
5. Continue to work on your spiritual autobiography. How does this study help in shaping how you think about your conversion?
Confidence: Justification
1. You're worse than you think. Read Romans 1:18-32; 3:9-20. Make note of ways in which these verses are true in your own life.
2. Read Romans 3:21-26. Is it hard for you to get past your sin and look to Christ? What happened to Jesus on the cross that would make you confident that you are forgiven?
3. On page 119, discuss Steve's definition of justification. How is that definition relevant to your spiritual life?
4. What's the difference between being forgiven and counted righteous? See how these two components are reflected in the Shorter Catechism's definition of justification on page 120.
5. How does Romans 5:1-11 shape our view of justification?
