How to Use This Blog

The purpose of this blog is to help men follow Jesus Christ.  Here is what you will find.

The Home Page
The main page will contain posts to reflect on on recent sermons, chapters from The Walk, and passages of Scripture that relate to the readings for that month.

The Walk Study Guide
I am preparing a brief and non-technical guide to move us through The Walk.  It is a guide for reading and discussion.  It is not intended to be exhaustive.  It should help our time together at the Saturday meetings be more fruitful.  For planning purposes, I am going to assume that you will take four days to get ready for the Saturday monthly meeting.

The Next Event Page
This page will contain--you guessed it--information on the next event.  We are planning to meet monthly.  Check this page for details.

The Daily Devotional Link
The daily devotional is based on a reading plan developed by the 19th century Scottish Minister Robert Murray M'Cheyne.  Many of us follow this plan and find it helpful.  It is a lot at first--about four chapters a day.  Don't get bogged down.  Read, soak it up, be immersed.  You find that your understanding of Scripture will increase.  Take your questions about what you are reading to others in the men's ministry that you think may help you understand.  If you follow this plan you will read through the New Testament and Psalms twice and the Old Testament once.  The devotional commentary that accompanies the reading schedule is by D.A. Carson--one of the leading New Testament scholars in the English speaking world.  Jot for tittle it is the best quick read on the Bible that I have found, period.

The Gospel Centered Resources Link
This page is the resource page for The Gospel Coalition (TGC).  TGC is a coalition of pastors (mostly) and some writers and thinkers who are committed to the gospel.  The unifying principle of TGC is the gospel, as articulated by Paul and Jesus and expounded by the Protestant Reformers.  There are other good sites but I direct you here because of the volume, breadth and organization of the material.  You will find book reviews, articles, sermons, videos and interviews--all indexed by topic and speaker.  TGC has an imprint for publishing with Crossway.  I recently contributed a chapter on justification to a book under this imprint that will be forthcoming in 2011.
